Pickleball Courts
Pickleball! Start your day with a little adrenaline and a lot of fun on the pickleball courts at Grass Valley RV Resort. With crisp mountain air and sunshine overhead, it's the perfect setting to rally, laugh, and get moving.
The resort features three dedicated pickleball courts for open guest use — enough capacity that you'll rarely wait for a game, even during busy fairgrounds weekends. Paddle and ball sets are available free at the front desk, so there's nothing to pack.
Whether you're a seasoned player or brand new to America's fastest-growing sport, pickleball here is a social, energetic way to meet fellow guests and add some excitement to your stay. Pick-up games form organically most mornings — just show up and introduce yourself.

How to Play Pickleball
The basics: two or four players rally a perforated plastic ball over a 34-inch net using solid paddles, on a court about a third the size of a tennis court. Serve underhand and diagonally, let the ball bounce once on each side before volleys begin (the 'two-bounce rule'), and stay out of the seven-foot no-volley zone at the net — affectionately called 'the kitchen' — unless the ball bounces there first.
Scoring is simple: games go to 11 points (win by 2), and only the serving side can score. Rally, switch serves when the servers fault out, and keep track out loud — calling the score before each serve is part of the game's charm.
Etiquette is easy: call balls in or out honestly, announce the score clearly, and rotate off after a game when others are waiting. Beginners are welcome in open play — pickleball players are famously friendly about teaching newcomers.
New to Pickleball?
No problem — the game takes about ten minutes to learn and a lifetime to master. It's played on a badminton-sized court with paddles and a wiffle-style ball, blending elements of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton into something friendly for every age and fitness level. Ask at the front desk for a set and a quick rules rundown.
Already hooked? The courts are a favorite venue for friendly tournaments during rallies and group events, and the foothill mornings are cool enough for competitive play all summer long.
Beyond the Courts
Round out your resort game day with bocce ball, horseshoes, and cornhole — all a short walk away — then recover in the heated pool and spa. Athletes and spectators both end the day at the fire pits.
